List of important Command Launch Parameters

This is a list of some important Command Line Parameters for Garry's Mod.

Command Line Description
-noworkshop Disables workshop addon system in the game. Works on Dedicated servers as well as your client. Does not affect folder/legacy addons or directly loaded .gma files.
-disableluarefresh Disables Auto Refresh
-noaddons Disables folder/legacy addons. Introduced in the October 2016 update
-multirun Allows you to launch multiple instances of the game. You will not be able to connect to the same multiplayer server from both instances, unless the server has sv_lan set to 1.
Please note that the sv_lan 1 command must be set before the server is started or a changelevel is required.
-dxlevel Forces the game to start using specified DirectX API version. Officially supported values are: 90, 91, 95 (recommended) After starting the game with this launch parameter, the selected value will be saved for future start ups and video settings will be temporarily reset (but not saved), so it is highly recommended to remove this launch parameter after first launch with it.
-window Forces the game to start in windowed mode regardless of the setting in the options
-noborder In combination with -window, hides the default OS window border, including drag bar and close buttons.
-w <number> Forces width of your game window. Used in combination with -h. Must be a valid screen resolution.
-h <number> Forces height of your game window. Used in combination with -w. Must be a valid screen resolution.
+<ConVar name> <value> Sets value of a console variable after the game is started.
-tools Starts the game in tool mode, allowing use of Particle Editor and similar Engine Tools
-condebug Puts all console output into a console.log file located in garrysmod/.
